Since its grand opening in April of 1974, Nikiski Church of the Nazarene has undergone many changes. Originally, the church consisted of a single house that sat on four adjacent lots. This home was transformed into the church sanctuary and was only 2800 square feet. Today, the church is composed of two buildings spanning 14,000 square feet and resides upon a block of 12 adjacent lots.

The mission of the church remains one of preaching salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ and reaching the community with the hope of the gospel message.
