The purpose of the District Board of Ministerial Studies (DBMS) is to aid and guide all candidates on the Alaska District in preparation for the various forms of ministry.  The board's responsibility extends to the licensees who are enrolled in colleges.   In addition, this board is charged with the task of fostering continuing education on the district for ordained ministers.  A summary of the duties of the DBMS

     Modular Course of Study Update

PLEASE NOTE: With the release of the 2005  Manual, the Directed Studies Program  (DSP) will no longer exist. It will be replaced by the new Modular Course  of Study provided by Clergy Development and available through  Northwest Nazarene University.

The Modular Course of Study for the elder track is composed of 24 modules.  These are now complete and available for download at www.nazarenepastor.org or on CDROM from Clergy Development.

Deacon track specialty modules are still being developed and should be available within the next year.  When the elder ministry specialty module--namely Preaching the Story of God--is removed, the remaining 23 modules form the ordination core that will be required of all candidates in districts that have adopted the Modular Course of Study as their curriculum. In the meantime, students in deacon tracks may work on any of 23 modules in the ordination core.
